if judges don't read, why should reviewers?

Shocking! A reviewer who may not have read the book she was supposed to review. On a more serious note, if even the NY Times reviewers get this sloppy, what does that say about the rest of them? Here's the review in question.

There was a bigger flap over Michael Kinslay's not having read even the finalists for National Books Award for which he was a juror.

Most reviewers, I think, are conscientious and read the books they are meant to review carefully. They tend to be an opinionated and dour lot, but I don't think this sort of incident is very common.

I love reading NYT book review. I would hate to be proved wrong.
