Very interesting article, thank you for pointing me to it.
As a South African writer I can sympathise with some of the frustration expressed by these writers, even if the causes are very different. South African writing is currently caught in a loop of looking back. Most of what gets published there is about the horrors of apartheid. Yet, South African writers will also have to find a new voice, and new things to write about, to remain relevant and active. Looking back leads eventually to atrophy.
