the politics of fear
I was going to comment on the new Israeli law (see here and here) that prevents Palestinians who marry Israelis from living in Israel or acquiring Israeli citizenship, but Jonathan Edelstein puts it in much better terms than I could.
I find it fascinating your shorts are in an uproar over this Israeli law when the stated goal of the Palestinians is to destroy Israel by population growth and it's a crime punishable by death to sell land to a Jew on the East Bank--and all the local Jews, who were there long before "Palestinians" were invented by Arafat (who's Egyptian btw) were kicked out.
Say, why aren't native Jews in the area called "Arabs" anyway? Why were they persecuted in every Arab country, even before Israel was founded?
Why don't you lament Saudi Arabia's fascistic treatment of all other religions?

The sheer incoherence of the rest of your comment precludes a serious answer from me, so I'll abstain.
Posted by: moorishgirl on August 2, 2003 08:36 PMHave you ever been married, Carlsbad? If you have, you'd know how evil it is to break up families. I'm normally a supporter of Israel, but this law is not morally defensible, and it is all the more disappointing coming from a country I love.
